Checklist
CAD Security Checklist
This CAD security checklist helps you review the CAD files, users and partner handoffs that create design IP risk.
Use It Before Choosing A Tool
The checklist shows whether your problem is file inventory, access control, sharing, proof, or review discipline.
File Inventory
- List CAD files that contain product advantage.
- Include native files, neutral exports, drawings and 3D printing files.
- Mark files shared with suppliers, contractors, clients or investors.
Access Rights
- Check who opens each sensitive file.
- Separate view, edit, export, print, download and share rights.
- Remove access for people outside the current CAD work.
Sharing And Exports
- Review email attachments, cloud links and supplier portals.
- Check whether STEP, IGES, STL, OBJ or PDF exports are controlled.
- Keep a record of what was sent and why.
Metadata And Evidence
- Strip unnecessary author, path, revision and customer metadata.
- Keep a clear record of file fingerprints, versions and timestamps.
- Review blockchain-backed proof for high-value files.
